Today, I'd like to tell you about that pale green glass you've probably seen in the back alleys of Hanoi or on the street corners of Ho Chi Minh City.

"The 1976 Form" Born from One Designer's Passion

This rustic yet endearing glass actually has a dramatic origin story.

It was designed by Lê Huy Văn, a designer who specialized in industrial design in Germany, the birthplace of design, in the 1970s.

After returning to Vietnam in 1976, he designed this glass with the hope that "ordinary people could enjoy beer cheaply and cheerfully." The reason it's still loved nearly half a century later is that it's a masterpiece that fuses the "beauty of utility" cultivated in Germany with the "relaxed lifestyle" of Vietnam.

A Hidden Gem That's "Surprisingly Hard to Find"

While this glass is a common sight in Hanoi, it's surprisingly hard to find in stores in Ho Chi Minh City if you go looking for it. I was determined to bring this glass with its story to everyone, so I carefully added it to our lineup.

Furthermore, ít ít Việt Nam chose a special "200ml" size.

The mainstream 330ml size in Vietnam can sometimes feel a bit large and heavy for home use. But with this 200ml size:

• Perfect for barley tea or juice, a capacity suitable for everyday use
• Easy for children's hands to hold and not too heavy
• Stackable for neat storage

Unique Character Born from Recycled Glass

The greatest charm of this glass is that it's still made from recycled glass. The lovely little bubbles that float within, and the soft green that shines through when held up to the light. Each one is unique, with slightly different characteristics (ít ít meaning "little by little"), and you'll find yourself developing a strange affection for them.

By the way, did you know that when you order beer in Vietnam, it often comes with a large "ice (đá)"? At first, I was reluctant, thinking "it'll dilute the beer...", but in the heat, ice-cold beer is surprisingly refreshing!

Even at your Japanese dining table, clink in a large ice cube and enthusiastically shout "Một, hai, ba, dô!" (1, 2, 3, Cheers!). Not just for beer, but the texture of the recycled glass also looks great when pouring barley tea or Vietnamese coffee.
